As a local authority, the Municipality of Outjo is situated in the North-west of Namibia, in South-western Africa with a population of 2.1 million inhabitants.

It is 112km south of the world famous Etosha National Park. It serves as a gateway to the Etosha National Park as well as to various tourism attractions such as the Ugab Terraces, the Rock finger, the volcanic mountain area and the rock engravings at Twyfelfontein, the Petrified Forest, the Epupa Waterfalls and many more in the north western of Namibia.

Outjo is located in Kunene Region and 70km west of Otjiwarongo, 325km northwest of Windhoek, the Capital City of Namibia, 450km northeast of Walvis Bay, the harbor town of Namibia and 498km southwest of Ondangwa.
Outjo has a subtropical climate, with very hot summers of above 30 degrees Celsius and the winter days are usually warm, but nights turn cold, with frost sometimes in the mornings. The average rainfall is 480mm per annum.
